Network Activities

Northern Pakistan saw the most catastrophic earthquake of recent history on October 8, with a magnitude of 7.6 recorded on the Richter scale. Right from the onset, LEAD Pakistan has been active in providing relief. Our network of Fellows & Associates has been mobilised to draw upon their professional strengths and access to the affected areas.

A new exciting partnership has just been announced between the UK Government´s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and LEAD on increasing cross-sectoral dialogue and action on sustainable development in Brazil — one of the world´s emerging economies.

This partnership will take forward the multi-stakeholder engagement part of the UK-Brazil Sustainable Development Dialogue.

Training Events and Courses

LEAD brought together some of our leaders in Geneva recently for a training event on understanding the intergovernmental system and sustainable development. Participants included a parliamentarian from Romania, a conservationist from Lebanon and a radio journalist from China.

Young leaders from all over the Asia-Pacific region are gathering in Chiang Mai in early December to start a regional leadership course in governance co-organised by LEAD and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The event is part of Capacity 2015, UNDP´s flagship capacity development programme.

IPTRID, the International Programme for Technology and Research on Irrigation and Drainage, a special programme of FAO, has engaged LEAD to support the National Water Research Centre in Egypt by organising a training event for 20 researchers in project preparation and proposal writing.
